Mark Sykes

Mark Sykes is an experienced relationship counsellor who specialises in working with individuals and couples who feel their relationship is going through a troubled time and are seeking assistance to explore and resolve these issues.

Mark's diverse background includes lecturing at QUT and AIPC, counselling at Lifeline, Salvo Care Line and Spiritus (Anglicare).

Mark is currently an Associate Lecturer teaching a number of subjects including relationship counselling and grief counselling. Mark is currently completing his Psychology PhD at Griffith University.

DASS21 form The DASS-21 is the shortened version of 43 item DASS. It is used to measure depression, anxiety and stress. Mark Sykes may use this form at the start of the session if appropriate.

Marriage Assessment Test: Couples are frequently tested during the course of treatment to evaluate progression.

Session evaluation form: You maybe randomly requested to complete a session evaluation as part of our quality measures.

Social Interaction Anxiety Scale (SIAS). Used for social phobia.

Academic interests

Current

Mark is currently engaged in doctoral research exploring online treatments for an anxiety related disorder.

Key research areas for Mark include emetophobia and online cognitive behavioural treatments for anxiety related disorders including phobias.

Past

Mark has previously researched empathy in the workplace and formulated a comprehensive testing protocol for independent analysis of empathy in the workplace.
