Whether we are working or studying, single or in a relationship, being human means we wrestle with some fundamental questions sooner or later. Do I fit in? Do I belong? Am I ok? Am I loved?
As though that’s not enough, we may have had difficult childhoods, traumatic times where we have felt abused, invaded, let down, neglected, or hurt. These experiences can challenge our beliefs in ourselves, people around us, the world, and even shaking our relationship with God. What do I think God is like? What does God really think of me? Why did God let this happen to me? Why me?
Naomi specialises in counselling young adults who might be struggling with anxious or depressive type symptoms that come about from all of these doubts and concerns. As well as being a registered psychologist, she is trained in pastoral counselling, which means she can facilitate the counselling process with you by applying Christian as well as psychological therapy styles. Whatever your beliefs about God, she will work with you where you are at, and will be respectful of your spiritual and personal beliefs throughout your work together. The most important thing for Naomi is that you establish the goals you have for therapy and that she facilitates your progress towards these goals utilising a style and a pace that works for you.

It is recommended that you see your local gp first to obtain a referral called a Mental Health Care Plan. You may need to make a 20 min appointment with your gp to do this as the gp has to complete some paperwork for this type of referral. A Mental Health Care Plan will mean that you can claim a medicare rebate for up to 12 sessions per year, and as of November 2008 the rebate is $78.40.
Private Health Insurance may also provide a partial rebate for a limited number of sessions per year.
